The problems all started when we met. But regardless of the cause, I have to put my girls first. I'll help you and Bethany find a safe place. I'm pregnant. That's why Bethany's been acting so out of control. She's just not taking the news well. -H-how how far along? -Six weeks. That's, that's why I didn't say anything. It's early. And at my age, you just... and just the thought of raising another child on my own-- You're not on your own. I just, I don't wanna be a burden. I don't wanna cause a problem with your girls. You're not a burden. Please... stay. Okay, I'll work all this out with Gabi. I'm sure that once she realizes she's going to have a new sibling, she'll come around. Bethany, she just needs to know that this really is her home and-and, and that she's safe. Oh, you're amazing. Can I just ask that maybe you hold off on telling your girls? It's still early. -Sure. -Okay. Anything you need. [instrumental music] [birds chirping] Thank you very much for confirming. is coming to our next game. [Annabelle] Oh, awesome! [Bethany] Sweet. [Tim] Yes! Gabi! -Ah, yeah, cool, dad. -[chuckles] So, uh, we need to be on our best behavior, girls. Okay? No drinking. No fighting. And, uh, you know, like, Toffee team spirit all the way. -[Tim] Right? -Okay, I'm off, babe. Oh. [Caroline] Bye, girls! [Bethany] Bye, mom. Bye! Hey. Uh, dad, could I borrow your car? I wanna go study at the library. Studying? Now that's the Gabi I remember. [chuckles] Can I get a ride to work on the way? On a beautiful day like this? The dad I remember would have biked to work. [chuckles] Touche. [Gabriella chuckles] [Tim chuckles] [camera clicking] That's your handwriting, isn't it? I know you said you'd get me in trouble if I told him you stole those checks, but I had to tell him. Dad, I did not write those checks. You have to believe me. I want to believe you. But you've really abused my trust. Bethany said she saw you shopping today when you told me you were at the library. Dad, Bethany and Caroline-- Are a part of our lives. And you will accept it! [knocking on door] Here to tell me off again? I went to surprise Caroline at work today and my phone was dead, so I went into the hospital to find her. wronn or maybe she's using a different name to protect herself. Then why'd you say anything if you don't think it's anything? I didn't think mom's headache was anything either. Neither of us could have done anything. I know. But if there is something up with Bethany and Caroline, maybe we can do something about that. This is where she was when she said she was working. Maybe she just needed a day to herself? They're trying to frame me for stealing those checks. Why would they do that if they weren't planning something? You really didn't do it? Promise? Look at me. We came from the same womb. You, of all people, should know this. My favorite purple pen is missing and you have my Chemistry notes in your room. Bethany or Caroline copied my writing. I-is that so hard to believe? I saw Bethany with a purple pen the other day. Hey, sweetheart. [Caroline] Babe, we, uh, we need to tell you something. Bethany stole those checks from you, not Gabriella. What? Dad, Bethany wrote those checks. Look what we found in her room. And Caroline lied about being at work today. -See, I followed her and she-- -It's all true. Look... I haven't been able to work because of the baby. The baby's blood is Rh positive and mine is negative. I've been Rh sensitized. It just means the baby has to have frequent transfusions. So the doctor ordered me off work when I went in for my first test. [sighs] Bethany cashed the checks because she knew we'd need the money. I heard you guys fighting about us living here. So I made it seem like Gabi stole those checks because she's your daughter and you'll always love her. Look, I thought I protected her from the worst of it, but she still remembers what it was like when I was a single mom and out of work. She made... She mBethany.is really s, What you accused Gabi of is-is-- I hate the thought of raising this baby on my own, but if you want us to leave, I completely understand. You have to think of your girls first. No. No, no, no. We are a family now and we will deal with this together. You will not raise this child alone. I promise you that. [scoffs] I told you she was framing me. Which she confessed and explained. Well, she never explained why no one at the hospital knew her. Gabi, Caroline and Bethany are gonna be family now. You have to accept them. We're gonna be big sisters. -H she wasn't. -Maybe she was a doctor. -[sighs] I can't with you. You have to drop this. What else could her name be? [laptop keys clacking] Gabriella. It's time for things to change around here. No more snooping. No more accusations. And if you can't stop yourself, I will. Are you threatening me? I'm merely saying you wouldn't wanna have another accident. Another head injury would mean no more soccer. Then you'd be stuck with me. I'd have to go to a local college. Or you'd have to go to a clinic for cognitive rehabilitation. Hm. Luckily, a good friend of mine runs one. It is so sad how many people never fully recover. [sighs] Some of them are so insistent that they're fine now that they can go home. But with brain trauma, there are just... there's so many unknowns. Anyway, that's not gonna happen with you, right, dear? Because you're gonna be careful. Gonna avoid risks. I'm so glad that we had this talk. -You're so wonderful. -Mm. Bethany and I are so lucky. Well, you and Bethany have been through a lot. You deserve happiness. Now from here on out, I want you tell me everything. And for starters, I wanna be at your next check-up. -[both chuckling] -Of course. I just still feel like this is all gonna go away. I'm not used to having a man in my life I can depend on. Well, I'm not going anywhere. I promise you that. -We are a family now. -Hm. What if we made it official? -What, like, get married? -Yeah. Then I'd, you know, would know you're rea. Well, a wedding is a lot to plan and you have been kind of exhausted with the pregnancy. What if... we did it tomorrow? After the big game. Just the two of us. City Hall. Keep it simple. Tomorrow? That's, that seems a bit rushed. Hey, well, you don't want to, it's fine. Forget it. Oh, hon. I just... I want this baby to come into the world with a united family, you know, knowing it has a mom and a dad it can count on. Yorry you. Balls are in the car, okay, remember, just because a scout is here doesn't mean we play any differently. Play as a team. And no grand standing, all right? See you soon, babe. I'll meet you there. [Caroline] Get your bag. [Bethany] Mm-hmm. Okay, Caroline was a doctor, but she had her license revoked. I didn't see her name before because she went under a different last name. Thompson. What did you do, look up every Caroline until one matched your crazy theory? No, I d... Girls, come on, let's go. No, that's the same last name that was on Bethany's fake ID. Caroline was writing up fake Oxy prescriptions and selling them. deal with him. a I don't even know who you are anymore. I hope you mess up in front of the scout. I don't wanna go to the same college as you. Hey, Bethany? Help me stretch? [indistinct chatter] Welcome. Our bench is down here. I am so excited for you to see the team play and, of course, my girls. -[whistle blows] -Whoo-hoo! [Caroline] Yes! Let's go, girls! Good job, nice pass! -[cheering] -[whistle blows] -Yay! -Whoo! Way to go, Toffees! [indistinct chatter] Gabi! What are you doing? Uh, nothing. Just looking for your lip gloss. Where are you going? Game's about to start back up. Uh, just going to the bathroom. Is that okay with you? [indistinct chatter] [gasps] Gabi saw my ID. I finally found a good man. A man I love who actually loves me. I'm not gonna let her ruin it. Time to play the game your way. [Gabriella] Bethany's real name is Beth-Anne Thompson. She's not 17, she's 23! She was arrested for assault. From what I can piece together, it seems like Caroline was hooking up with some rich guy and was taking him for everything he was worth. could live with them." And when he tried to kick them out, Beth-Anne assaulted him. They don't name the other woman, but you think it was Caroline? [scoffs] Oh, I know it was Caroline. -We have to tell dad. -We have to be smart about it. Apparently, the guy needed 18 stitches when Bethany was done with him. It was 19, actually. [breathing heavily] [Caroline] Scream, and I'll shoot. Come on, give me your phone. -Come on, you, too. -Uh, I left it with my stuff. Check her. [Annabelle gasps] [intense music] [breathing heavily] I'm sorry I doubted you. I should have been more dialed in. mea. [laughs] Yes. Yes, I appreciate his money. Just like you. Well, you like your house a-and your clothes and your life. You didn't have to work for any of that. Okay? So why am I so evil for wanting a piece of that? You know, it's not just the money. -I love your father. -Okay, okay! Just, please don't hurt us. Y-you're a doctor. You-you swore an oath. You mean I was a doctor until a goody two shoes like you stuck her nose where it didn't belong. So I was selling fake prescriptions? Okay, I needed the money for Beth. Not everyone gets it handed to 'em like you. Have a little sympathy for a single mother. You know, you can drop the single-mom act. I know you two are sisters. Oh, when you said you knew what it was like living in your sister's shadow, you were talking about Caroline, right? sure worked on our dad. t [cell phone ringing] -Where are you? Hello? -[muffled rumbling] [Gabriella] You know, you won't get away with killing us. [Annabelle] Our dad will figure it out. [Caroline laughs] Your faith in your dad is so touching. He wants to see the best in everyone. He won't believe I had anything to do with your deaths. [intense music] [Gabrielle] Where are you taking us? [Caroline] To a very special place. To make some new memories. [Annabelle] You think you can kill us and our dad won't suspect anything? This doesn't end in a happily ever after for anyone. Sure it does, because Tim is resilient. couldn't accept her new family. She's been spiraling out of control for months. Oh, everybody's seen it, she finally cracked under the pressure of that scout coming to the game, realizing that soccer was all that she had left, she wasn't even good enough at that. [tires screeching] [gasps] So you came here, yeah, to where your mom died and you threw yourself off a cliff. Annabelle figured it out. But unable to bear it, she joined you. -You can't get away with this. -Of course. Your dad is gonna be devastated, but with me and Bethany by his side, he'll get over it. -Match your opponent! -[grunting] She's not pregnant. [Bethany grunts] [Caroline] Beth, the gun! No! -No. -[gunshot] [Gabriella panting] [Annabelle] You shot my sister! [Tim] Annabelle! Gabriella! Oh, my God! [Gabriella breathing heavily] Hold this, I got 9-1-1 on the line. [Gabriella] I'm okay. [Annabelle] You're okay. [Bethany] Caroline, we have to get out of here now! Okay. You're gonna be okay. I love you. Everything's gonna be okay. Listen, you're gonna be okay. Everything's gonna be okay. I'm gonna carry you out of here and, well, you lead the way. -Okay. -Okay? [instrumental music] killing me. Would you just open it already? Don't get too excited, it's gonna be a no. You don't know that, the doctor said if you keep up with your physio and your stretching, you'll be back on the field in no time. They haven't seen me play. Uh... Okay, wait, wait, wait. Just... Look, even if it is by some miracle yes, I don't know about leaving dad alone. There are plenty good local options. Well, not with that kind of soccer program. And not with your sister. Dad was willing to believe Caroline's lies because he didn't have anybody else. [sighs] Okay. Open it. Things are slowly going back to normal and, uh, I can't tell you how relieved I am. Um, gotta call that order in. But good talk, man. Thanks, Mike. You're -All in.You in? -All right. -[chuckles] I think dad's gonna be okay. Oh? To what do I owe this surprise visit, girls?
